Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (1881–1938) was the founder of the modern Republic of Turkey, its first president, and one of the most influential political figures in Turkish history. Known as "Atatürk" ("Father of the Turks"), he is revered as the father of the Turkish nation. 🔹Early Life and Military Career Born in 1881 in Salonika (now in Greece), he was educated in elite military academies. He fought in multiple battles under the Ottoman Empire and distinguished himself as a capable commander. 🔹 War of Independence and Republic Founding In 1919, Atatürk led the Turkish War of Independence (Kurtuluş Savaşı) against occupying forces, including British, French, Greek, and Italian troops. On 29 October 1923, the Republic of Turkey was officially declared, with Atatürk as its first president. 🔹 Reforms and Modernization 1. Abolished the sultanate and caliphate 2.
